Spring 2023

Most Springs I am in good shape, this one I'm recovering from an operation. As usual the Spring post will be done, but over a longer period of time. Nature seems to be having a difficult time weatherwise as periods of cold were interspersed with warmer times and a very dry February. March had record rain came down, so there's no telling how this season will develop.

The leaves are beginning.

A few flowers have begun to appear.
Took a lot of Photoshop work for this.

The rain kept coming and all the trails are a sea of mud and water.

Blackthorn trees—notice size of couple walking through.

Normally these flower out if a freeze happens, here in Enland it's called a Blackthorn winter. Trouble is we've had about 5 of them. I walked here a few days previously and no flowers were out, a short freeze happened and the blooms burst forth. There are least 100 of the trees here and it was like walking through a tunnel of white.

Where forests rustle, tree on tree,
And sing their silent songs to me;
Where pathways meet and pathways part,—
To walk with Nature heart by heart
(Paul Laurence Dunbar)

Something in Spring, but not the normal.

Ran across a film shoot, near where I live, in April. The director and I had a short chat, while the crew were setting up the camera. The movie was mainly taking place in a house, which used to belong to a friend who did some serious color lab work for TV and the like.

. . . . . . .

Now I hope to get out on the road again.
